Representative Wálmaro Gutiérrez highlights results of the restoration of relations with China

Deputy Wálmaro Gutiérrez presented to the plenary session of the National Assembly a systematization of the results and experiences acquired during the participation of a delegation of Nicaraguan deputies in the Parliamentary Seminar held in the People's Republic of China.

Gutiérrez in his intervention pointed out that the seminar was attended by different parliamentary delegations from Central America and the Caribbean, managing to establish a fraternal exchange between the hosts and the delegations from El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and the Dominican Republic.

“Nicaragua's relations with the People's Republic of China have a very long history, especially the relations between the Sandinista Front party and the Communist Party of China, decades that unite through a deep affinity and political and ideological identification and a historical brotherhood between both parties. . “This is a strategic relationship that is based on three major pillars, solidarity cooperation, cooperation through trade and investments, and the development and promotion of cooperation through strategic development projects to be carried out in Nicaraguan territory” he expressed. he.

Likewise, the parliamentarian mentioned some of China's contributions to the Nicaraguan people such as the donation of vaccines against Covid-19, donation of medical supplies, as well as referring to the approval of an aid fund for Nicaragua for an amount of 1 thousand million yuan, allowing the country to develop a national housing program for Nicaraguan families.

“Proposals have been promoted such as the construction of the San Benito thermal energy plant where approximately 180 megawatts are projected and the free supply of buses. Let us remember that so far we have received a little more than 750 buses out of an approximate 1,200 buses. that they intend to receive in this first stage, between 2024 and 2025,” he added.

“The government sets the guidelines and establishes a period between 2025 and 2027 for cooperation between China and Nicaragua, where the second national housing program 'Nuevas Victorias' will be promoted, the second stage of the San Benito thermal plant, more supply of buses, construction of streets for the town and the construction of a regional reference hospital in the municipality of Diriamba, department of Carazo” he stated.

Regarding cooperation through trade and investments, the Government of Nicaragua actively promotes the participation of Chinese companies and entrepreneurs in the development of the country, who have been guaranteed the necessary conditions for their establishment.

“In less than a year of the reestablishment of relations between China and Nicaragua, our country had the opportunity to approve in this assembly the Early Harvest Trade Agreement that established the guidelines so that in less than a year we would have a Free Trade Agreement with the first economic power in the world such as the sister People's Republic of China, providing advantages and facilities to our government, businessmen, investors and privileged attention to businessmen of the Chinese people because our intentions are that China can become in the medium term the Nicaragua's first trading partner” he expressed.
