XVII China-Latin America and the Caribbean Business Summit begins in Nicaragua

The XVII China-LAC Business Summit began with an opening ceremony, with the motto "Joining forces, creating opportunities: New horizons for China and Latin America and the Caribbean."

This important event will take place on November 18 and 19, 2024 at the Olof Palme Convention Center in Managua, capital of Nicaragua, which brings together business leaders, government officials and representatives of international organizations, to strengthen economic and commercial ties between China and the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region, opening new horizons for the regions.

The inauguration ceremony was led by comrade Laureano Ortega Murillo, Advisor to the Presidency for Investment, Trade and International Cooperation Issues; Comrade Yang Zhen, Vice President of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Comrade Ren Hongbin, President of the Council for the Promotion of International Trade; Ovidio Reyes, President of the Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN).

Comrade Laureano Ortega Murillo, expressed the warmest welcome to all those present at the summit, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Nicaragua, Commander Daniel Ortega and the Vice President, Compañera Rosario Murillo.

"Our gratitude to President Xi Jinping, the Communist Party of China, the people and Government of China, for having decided to hold this important summit in Nicaragua; our special thanks to our brother Ren Hongbin, for having worked with the Government of Nicaragua to organize this very important summit, the Seventeenth China Latin America and the Caribbean Business Summit," he thanked.

He also thanked the participation and presence of all the delegations present at the summit; to the more than 250 businessmen of the People's Republic of China; representatives of institutions of the People's Republic of China; to the more than 70 delegates from Latin America and the Caribbean: representatives of the Sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Argentina, Peru, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Honduras, Ecuador, Uruguay Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Guyana, Suriname Mexico, a broad representation, all working for the common good.

The China-LAC Business Summit has established itself as an essential platform for the exchange of knowledge and the creation of strategic alliances.

In 2024, the Summit seeks to identify and take advantage of opportunities that promote joint development and inclusive growth, through specialized exhibitions and discussion panels, where key topics such as: investment, commercial logistics and cooperation will be addressed.

The XVI edition of this event was held in Beijing, from November 2 to 3, 2023.
