Important Official Business Delegation from the People's Republic of China Arrives in Nicaragua

An important Official Business Delegation from the People's Republic of China arrived on the night of Sunday, August 18, at Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua.

The delegation is led by Li Xinqiang, Director General of the Department of International Trade at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the People's Republic of China.

Laureano Ortega Murillo, Presidential Advisor for Investments, Trade, and International Cooperation, expressed a warm and cordial welcome to the delegation from the People's Republic of China.

"This business delegation, led by Comrade Li Xinqiang, Director General of the Department of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the People's Republic of China, is heading a large delegation of 32 people—32 brothers and sisters from the People's Republic of China; eight colleagues from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and 24 businesspeople who come to work with our country, our companies, and our Nicaraguan colleagues to promote the export of Nicaraguan products to the market of the People's Republic of China" he emphasized.

Laureano stated that, on behalf of President Commander Daniel Ortega and Vice President Comrade Rosario Murillo, "we want to extend the warmest welcome to this delegation and express our gratitude to President Xi Jinping, the Communist Party of China, and the Government and people of the People's Republic of China for the high level of attention and priority they give to this bilateral relationship, characterized by brotherhood, fraternity, and mutual cooperation between Nicaragua and China."

Extensive Work and a Business Forum to be Held

The Presidential Advisor for Investments, Trade, and International Cooperation of Nicaragua reported that this extensive delegation from the People's Republic of China will be working with Sandinista government institutions, the Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and the Secretariat for Investments and Exports.

The work will focus, Laureano explained, "on analyzing and reviewing the great potential that exists to promote the export of Nicaraguan products to China and to encourage Chinese investments in Nicaragua, with the aim of exporting food products and other types of goods to that large market."

They will also hold a Business Forum on August 20, where they will interact with Chinese and Nicaraguan entrepreneurs, fostering commercial alliances and strategic partnerships between Nicaragua and China.

Additionally, they will make the most of the Free Trade Agreement signed between Nicaragua and China, which is already in effect; the direct maritime routes that now exist between both countries; as well as all the potential and opportunities that exist to strengthen bilateral trade.

"And as we have always said, with Nicaragua as a platform for the entire Central American market, and China as our platform for that large market and the Asian market" he assessed.

In closing, Comrade Laureano Ortega Murillo expressed deep gratitude to Comrade Li Xinqiang and the extensive delegation, "for visiting us, and we are ready to start working and to continually provide more benefits to the Nicaraguan people. Thank you very much, comrades."
