On the second day of the XVII China-Latin America and the Caribbean Business Summit, a business roundtable was held with the objective of promoting alliances and fostering trade between both regions in order to generate wealth and contribute to the economic development of our peoples.
The business roundtables were held naturally according to the business interest of each of the participants. Companies from the People's Republic of China were grouped in tables and related to Construction and Machinery, Agriculture and Light Industry, Health and Medicine, Information Technology, Energy, Mining and Logistics.
Businessman Mario Amador, representative of the national sugar sector, indicated that business roundtables are important because they allow establishing relationships with businessmen from other countries, such as China and Latin American and Caribbean nations.
“These events are important because they allow you to meet with entrepreneurs from other places, not only from China, but from Latin America and the Caribbean, to learn about the things that are being done, new technologies, new business opportunities and to also present the offer that we Nicaraguans have, the exportable offer that we have in Nicaragua and the demand for products that we can have, so it opens up a world of opportunities because China is a country with a great capacity for technology production and a very important market for Nicaragua,” said Amador.
The sugar sector has exported more than 50 thousand tons of sugar to China this year and this figure is expected to increase in 2025, precisely because of this type of exchanges framed in this business summit.
The meat sector, represented by Carlos Vargas, from Matadero Central S.A, indicated that they have high expectations for the different contracts or businesses that they can achieve, from this business summit.
“The Chinese market has a high consumption potential and what we have liked the most is that there in China the meat is consumed with added value, that is to say, they do not take the specific pieces to give them value, but we can send them with added value, they are already ready in their packaging so that they go directly to the final consumer. We have high expectations, the clients who have asked about our products have shown great interest and have told us things that have us very excited, we hope that for the good of our industry, for the good of our country, businesses can be developed and a gap of great benefit can be opened that will be for prosperity,” emphasized Vargas.
The Chinese businessman, Te Xiu Hui of Zheng S.A., said that meeting with businessmen and entities from Latin America and the Caribbean helps them to expand. This company manufactures sports shoes and is located in Tipitapa, a municipality in the department of Managua. They make between 15,000 and 30,000 pairs of sports shoes daily. Zheng S.A. has factories in the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
“We are very grateful to the Government of Nicaragua for allowing us to have this business summit, which allows the growth and development of Nicaraguan companies, those from other countries and our companies in China. We are shoe manufacturers, our commercial brand is Dico and we have a factory on the Masaya-Tipitapa highway. Once it is over, this means that all businessmen will be able to have a closer relationship with Chinese companies,” said Te Xiu, whose company has been in Nicaragua for 4 years.
