A Momentous Event! Nicaragua and China Inaugurate Direct Maritime Trade Route

The country marks a historic and momentous day by inaugurating the direct maritime trade route between Nicaragua and the People's Republic of China, with the arrival of the Sunny Fortune ship at Corinto port on August 1st.

The ship, which arrived from Tianjin Port, China, inaugurates this maritime and commercial route, reinforcing the strategic partnership promoted by the Good Government led by President Commander Daniel Ortega and Vice President Compañera Rosario Murillo.

Comrade Laureano Ortega, Presidential Advisor for Trade, Investment, and International Cooperation, thanked the great Chinese people for the high attention and priority they give to this fraternal relationship between Nicaragua and China, and especially thanked the Chamber of Multimodal Transport Commerce of Tianjin city, the port from which this ship departed.

"On this special day, we first want to thank the President of the People's Republic of China, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, comrade and brother Xi Jinping, on behalf of our President Commander Daniel Ortega Saavedra, General Secretary of the Sandinista National Liberation Front, our Vice President Compañera Rosario Murillo, on behalf of our people and our Government" he expressed.

He stated that today celebrates the arrival of this first ship, establishing the direct maritime trade route between Nicaragua and China.

"A momentous event, a historic day for our country, and as the name of this ship, Sunny Fortune, predicts, we are convinced that this is the beginning of blessings, the blessing of the light brought by the strategic fraternal relationship between Nicaragua and China, which will benefit our peoples through commercial and economic exchange" he said.

Comrade Laureano mentioned that this ship is arriving as the beginning of the direct connection that will allow, with greater strength, the promotion of that economic and commercial exchange.

"This is the first of three ships that will be operating this route. They are starting with a monthly operation, as you will understand the distances are enormous, the journey of these ships takes up to 30 days, it may take a bit longer, and some unforeseen events arise due to the weather during the journey, so they must be divided into three ships to start a monthly frequency to Nicaragua and their return to China. Thus, we can tell our people, our agricultural producers, we can tell the entrepreneurs, the shipping and customs agencies also represented here, that this is a great achievement for our country, and we will continue working so that this is just the beginning of much more frequency, more operations" he detailed.
