Nicaragua and China sign contracts for the ENESOLAR 3 Solar Project in Masaya

Nicaragua and China signed contracts for the execution of the ENESOLAR 3 Solar Project, which will be carried out in Masaya, with the purpose of continuing to develop works to improve the living conditions of the Nicaraguan people.


These important contracts that were signed between the Government of Nicaragua and the Chinese state company CCCC (China Communications and Construction Corporation) are: signing of the Commercial Contract and the Credit Facility Contract, for the project called ENESOLAR 3.


Comrade Laureano Ortega Murillo, Presidential Advisor for the Promotion of Investments, Trade and International Cooperation, explained that it is a photovoltaic power plant that will be built in the department of Masaya, with a capacity of 70 megawatts, and an investment of 83 million dollars.


"This project has multiple objectives: First, to strengthen the pumping systems of the Nicaraguan Water and Sewer Company (Enacal), to improve the water and sanitation services provided to our people; second, to reduce the energy rate, through more efficient energy; third, to contribute to the sustainable development of our country, through renewable energy" said colleague Laureano Ortega Murillo.


Minister Ervin Barreda, executive president of Enacal, representing the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua, signed the contract for the Construction Project of a Photovoltaic Plant for the Operation of the Enacal ENESOLAR 3 Systems, in the municipality of Masaya.


Also, Bruno Gallardo, Minister of Finance and Public Credit, representing the Government of Nicaragua, signed the Credit Facility Agreement for an amount of 502 million 316 thousand yuan, equivalent to 70 million 550 thousand dollars, which will be used to finance the project.


Three solar energy projects with the Chinese company CCCC
The first project in execution is the ENESOLAR 1 photovoltaic project by Enacal in the municipality of San Isidro, department of Matagalpa.


A second project is the Solar El Hato in Ciudad Darío, department of Matagalpa. Now, the ENESOLAR 3 project, in the municipality of Masaya.


"With this project, we now have three solar energy projects with the Chinese company CCCC, with a total generation capacity of 200 megawatts, thus contributing to the security and energy efficiency of Nicaragua, and to the sustainable development of the country" highlighted the Presidential Advisor for the Promotion of Investments, Trade and International Cooperation of Nicaragua.


Comrade Laureno Ortega Murillo, on behalf of the people and Government of Nicaragua, Commander Daniel Ortega and Comrade Rosario Murillo, thanked the President of the People's Republic of China, Comrade Xi Jinping, the Communist Party of China, the government, the people, its companies and very especially, CCCC for continuing to contribute to the development of the Nicaraguan people, in programs and projects that are of mutual benefit.


Energy development is important for the well-being of a people
Xiaobing Zhao, director of the CCCC company for Nicaragua, on behalf of his company expressed respect and gratitude to the Government of Nicaragua, for the constant support and trust.


"We know that electrical and energy development is an important basis for the well-being of a people every day; it is the engine of social and economic development of a country" he said.


Zhao praised the Nicaraguan Government for having implemented the Generation Expansion Plan, through the Ministry of Energy and Mines, "we are very proud to be able to participate in this very successful energy revolution".


The director of the CCCC company mentioned that in Nicaragua, they are already developing two important photovoltaic projects with the support of the Sandinista Government.


This is the Enacal ENESOLAR 1 photovoltaic project in the municipality of San Isidro, department of Matagalpa, which is already underway.


The second is the El Hato Solar Project in Ciudad Darío, department of Matagalpa.


Regarding the ENESOLAR 3 Project in Masaya, Zhao said, "This project will not only contribute to changing the country's generation matrix, but will increase the proportion of generation with renewable resources; it will also guarantee the sustainable and stable supply of drinking water for the people of Nicaragua".


The director of the CCCC company pointed out that this project will bring the latest advanced technology in the solar sector from China; in addition, it will create many jobs.


Bruno Gallardo, Minister of Finance and Public Credit, mentioned that this ENESOLAR 3 project in Masaya will be directed at very sensitive areas and focused on the Fight against Poverty, in the most sensitive areas of sanitation and drinking water in the country.


For his part, Ervin Barreda, executive president of Enacal, explained that this project involves two of the most basic services in the country, which have to do with electricity and drinking water, with the perspective of improving these services for Nicaraguan families.


Salvador Mansell, Minister of Energy and Mines, stated that the plan for the future is to continue promoting renewable sources.


"We are at 70% renewable sources, taking advantage of natural resources, we are talking about 70% of energy consumption in our country; that added to the electrical coverage at a national level. It is important for the company Enacal, because in this way it has the possibility of continuing to grow with the water supply, at a national level".


The important signings of the agreement and contract for the ENESOLAR 3 Project in Masaya were finalized in the Office of Comrade Laureano Ortega Murillo, in Managua, capital of Nicaragua.
